July 26, 1959 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the initiative of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a submariner, Vice Admiral G.I.Schedrina opened Kamchatka Military History Museum. It is only in the northeast Russian largest museum devoted to military subjects.

  The museum building is located next to the House of officers of the fleet. The museum exhibition opened one and four exhibition halls.

  The museum introduces visitors to both highlights the history of the Kamchatka Territory Petropavlovsk port foundation to the present day, and the stages of development based on the territory of Kamchatka armed forces.

  In four halls of the museum is conducting tours:
  - Sightseeing tour of the museum;
  - Military history of Kamchatka;
  - Kamchatka expedition of the XVIII century under the leadership of V. Bering and A.Chirikova;
  - The defense of Petropavlovsk port from the Anglo-French troops in 1854.

- Invasion of the Kuril Islands in 1945.

  The museum is 12,000 units of storage - the collection of foreign and domestic firearms and bladed weapons, medals and orders, battle flags, insignia, models of military equipment, works of graphic art, painting and sculpture.

  The museum front-line diaries, photographs, memoirs and letters of the Great Patriotic War and veterans of the Armed Forces. The pride of the museum - two dioramas "The feat of sailors and Peter Nicholas Vilkova Ilicheva" (Invasion of the Kuril Islands, 1945) and "The defense of the port of Petropavlovsk in 1854". Among the unique collections of the museum - the exhibits preserved from the times of the Second Kamchatka expedition of Vitus Bering.

  Under the open sky on the territory of the park area of ​​the museum includes: exhibition of military equipment and a monument to the crew of the submarine L-16, who died during the Great Patriotic War in the Pacific.
