One of the most famous and most visited attractions in the city of Orchha, located in Madhya Pradesh state, in the heart of India, is a magnificent temple Chaturbui, which is directly opposite another famous place of the city - the Palace of Raj Mahal. The temple is dedicated to one of the supreme Hindu deities Vishnu. The name of the church comes from the word "four" and "hands" in Sanskrit means "the one who has four hands," meaning Vishnu, which is traditionally depicted with 4 hands.
The temple was built in the distant 1558-1573, during the dynasty Gurdzhara Pratiharas, King Madhukar Singh. Originally it was built in honor of Rama, but according to legend, the Queen, which was to bring the statue of Rama in the new church, first brought it it to the residence of the governor, but then could not move the statue up and realized it was himself Rama thus expressed his wish "live" it is in the palace, which later became to be called Raja Ram. Therefore, a new building was converted into a temple of Vishnu.
Chaturbui temple stands on a high stone pedestal and is a huge and massive structure. The building can be divided into several parts: a large "porch", which is a long stairway, a kind of lobby and main hall, which is a tall tower type pancharatha, in which stands a statue of the four-Vishnu. The main difference from other Chaturburai Hindu temples is the presence of a vast space inside the buildings, as well as an abundance of light.
Its walls are decorated with carved patterns, images of lotus flowers and Hindu religious symbols.
