The meeting of the Odessa Art Museum - one of the most important and multifaceted collections of domestic fine arts in Ukraine. It covers all kinds of fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, decorative - applied art) and includes the works of Ukrainian and Russian artists from the iconography of the XVI century to the present day, averaging more than 10,000 original works.

The museum is located in the heart of the city, in the palace, which is a monument of architecture of the early XIX century and having an artificial underground grotto, is also open for visits. The museum exposition is located in 26 rooms on two floors. It was built in the historical and chronological order in compliance with the principle of a monographic show of works of each artist.

The exhibition opens with the wonderful creations of painters XVI-XVIII centuries and full of originality early secular portraits of the XVII century. With painting of XVIII - early XIX century introduced works of the best artists of the era, such as of D., V. Borovikovsky, O. Kiprensky, VA Tropinin and others.

The museum has a large and representative collection of works by artists of the democratic trends in Russian art of the second half of the XIX. It works by such famous artists as Kramskoy, A. Savrasov, Levitan, Shishkin, A. Kuindzhi, Repin, V. Surikov and many others. Interesting and numerous collections of paintings of the famous marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky.

One of the best sections of the collection - the art of the turn of the XIX and XX centuries - reflects the diversity and strength of creative pursuit of this difficult time. Serov, Vrubel N., I.Rerih, B.Kustodiev, A. Benoit, K. Somov, Kandinsky, P. Levchenko, A.Murashko. Department of Modern Art presents artistic life in Odessa from the 20s to the present day.

Most interesting collection of icons in the Odessa Art Museum gives the opportunity to fully explore the unique monuments of Russian and Ukrainian icon painting XVI-XIX centuries.
