Beautiful building of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair in the style of ancient architecture adorns the historical part of Nizhny Novgorod since 1890. The main house is the largest fair Russian 19th century part of the partially preserved architectural Fairgrounds.

Macarius Fair (located near the Monastery of St. Macarius), founded by Grand Prince Vasily Ioannovich in 1524, because of a fire that destroyed all commercial buildings, in 1816 transferred to Nizhny Novgorod. In July, 1822 on the left bank of the Oka River, at the bottom of Novgorod, it opened a real fair complex with a stone arcade, wood trading and warehouse space, as well as a unique waterworks, get the name of the designer - Betankurovsky channel. On the territory of the exhibition complex were built Staroyarmarochny Cathedral and the church of Alexander Nevsky, extant.

At the end of 1880 the main trade fair building becomes obsolete, and the decision on the construction of a new, multi-Main Fair Building. In 1890, designed by architects A. von Gauguin, KM Treiman and AE Trambitsky building was erected the administrative center, where the second floor houses the fairground office, Office, Department of the State Bank Governor's apartment and on the ground there is a spacious arcade. The new building was erected on the site of the three "betankurovskih" cases and is considered to be the final stage of development of the architecture exhibition complex.

Main Fair Building, part of the largest malls in Russia, after the revolution, became a place of dislocation of numerous military units of the Red Army, and after 1922 in the spacious halls of the permanently settled "Children's World." Today the historical building is the largest exhibition complex, where there are six exhibition halls, five meeting rooms, as well as the Coat of Arms Hall, receiving distinguished guests, a shopping arcade and more.

The main house of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair is an architectural monument and a beautiful historic landmark.
