The museum was created on the initiative of the scientific community in Russia. The creation of the museum took part E.P.Peshkova - the wife of Gorky, N.A.Peshkova - M.Peshkova wife, MM and D.M.Peshkovy - granddaughter of the writer, I.F.Shalyapina-Baksheeva - daughter Chaliapin. A unique exhibition based on authentic materials about the past (1902 - 1904 gg.) Nizhny Novgorod Gorky's, became a writer for the heyday of his literary and social activities. During the years of living in this house for more than 50 works of writer translated into 16 languages. It finished the play "The Lower Depths", written by "Summer Folk", the poem "The Man", started working on the story "Mother". Exposure lets you feel the atmosphere of the early twentieth century society.
