At the end of the 60s of the 17th century building of the Narva Town Hall is the most representative public building in the city. Swedish King Karl XI ordered the city authorities on the construction of the town hall. For a basis was the project architect George Teyffelya from Luebeck. Construction began in 1868 and lasted for three years. And already in 1871, the town hall was ready. Upon completion of construction on the top of the tower was set gilded wrought-iron weathervane in the form of a crane, made by a master grabber. However, interior construction continued for 4 more years.
In subsequent years, on the facade of the building were set the clock and portal, brought from Stockholm. It was also completed construction of stairs. The last element is the set staircase forged grille, which at that time was gilded and door knocker. Inside the town hall was decorated with an abundance of paintings. The ground floor has a huge living room, covered with painted beams. On both sides of the entrance hall were rows of rooms. On the second floor, which is a staircase from the lobby, the meeting room was a magistrate (later thought). In the northern part of the second floor is a room of the High Court, and the Office of the waiting room in the south wing housed the premises of the lower court and the chamber of commerce. In the basement are located the House of weights and measures, the prison, as well as auxiliary facilities.
The building of the Town Hall was badly damaged during the Second World War. Then the tower was destroyed, the roof, floors, got badly damaged figure on the portal and staircase. Restoration work on the restoration of the town hall took place from 1956 to 1963. During this period, it was rebuilt tower, restored facade, portal and staircase grille.
