Epiphany Cathedral was built in the years 1693-1696 with the inclusion in the basement of the original buildings dating back to the year 1624. In 1697 the northern chapel was consecrated in memory of Metropolitan Alexy. South chapel was turned into a sacristy.
Cathedral of the Epiphany with the lower church in honor of Our Lady of Kazan is a fine example of "Naryshkin baroque". This style is characterized composition octagon on the quadrangle and white stone inlay, oriented toward Western forms. The temple features a high roof of the refectory and strongly protruding apse altar. Of interest are a lush curtain of the cathedral in the form of fringe, plenty of decorative balusters to trim, broken pediments, pilasters and conch. It is also noteworthy bars in the corners of the quadrangle. The roof of the refectory has a Baroque gable.
Inside the cathedral are preserved fragments of sculptural decoration made team of artists from Switzerland in the years 1704-1705, "Coronation of the Virgin" on the altar of the "Christmas" - on the south and "Baptism" - on the north wall.
The lower church served as the burial place of Dolgoruky, Yusupov, Sheremetyevo, Golitsyn. After the closure of the church a necropolis was destroyed, only a few tombstones.
Cathedral was closed in 1929. The ground floor was arranged flour warehouse and placed in the top Ukrainian club.
Currently, in the upper church restored carved gilded iconostasis, paintings and sculptures. In the lower church consecrated the high altar of Our Lady of Kazan and the chapel in the name of Metropolitan Alexei of Moscow.
