Hincu Monastery is one of the oldest convents south Moldova, is located 70 kilometers from Chisinau. It was built in 1678 and for centuries was one of the richest monasteries in Bessarabia.

There is a beautiful legend about the founding of the monastery, according to which the Moldavian boyar Mihalcea Hincu hiding in this place together with his daughter Praskovya during one of the Mongol raids. After a miraculous deliverance from death Mihalcea Hincu promised his daughter that will build on this place the temple and kept his promise.

The wooden church and monastic cells are often devastated and suffer during the Tatar invasions, so periodically the monastery was completely deserted. In 1771 the monastery was restored, and in 1784 under the leadership of the monastery abbot Varlaam built new cells for the monks, restored wooden church and the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1836 the monastery was officially transformed into the monastery, at the same time instead of the wooden church of St. Paraskeva Venerable old stone built with a bell tower, and later - winter Assumption with 28 stone pillars that adorn the facade of the temple. At that time, the monastery functioned barn, distillery, a carpentry shop, a smithy, was opened a boarding school for orphans. The monastery was Hynkovskom assembled one of the richest and most extensive libraries of the time.

In 1949 came the hard times for the monastery - it is officially closed, and later transferred to the needs of lung sanatorium "Codru". Building a summer church converted into a club for young people, and winter - in the warehouse, looted valuables, destroyed the graves of priests.

Only in 1992, after the return of the monastery believers began work on the restoration of the temple, and in time he became one of the most visited by tourists and pilgrims complex.
