The first castle was built in Miskolc in the 12th century, and it is likely it was poorly fortified castle, so it is up to the base was destroyed during the Mongol invasion in the years 1241-1242. New Castle is mentioned in chronicles in 1316 and belongs to the period of reign of King Bela IV. The central tower was surrounded by a polygonal exterior walls.

  Castle Dёshdёr reached its peak during the reign of Louis I (the Great), King of Poland. On his orders, the castle was renovated and modernized. Surrounded by several inner walls of the castle was built around a rectangular courtyard, it has four towers, one at each corner. The first floor of the fortress occupied by warehouses, the second floor - living room and the Knights' Hall - 25 meters long and 13 meters wide. Modernization of the castle was completed in the reign of Louis's daughter - Maria, at the same time the castle was surrounded by a 4-meter ditch.

  In 1381 in the castle Dёshdёr Turin was signed peace treaty podvedshy line in the war between Venice and Genoa republics for supremacy in the Mediterranean, these won by shadow figures: King of Hungary and Duke of Austria. In the north-eastern tower there is an exhibition of wax figures, among which we can find the heroes of this historic meeting: King Louis and the Venetian ambassador.

  For several centuries, the castle was the holiday residence of King. Last Queen, which owns the castle, was Mary, the wife of Louis II.

  When the Ottoman army began to occupy the south of Hungary, the castle was fortified. Its owners, the Balassa family turned it into a great fortress, the towers have been replaced by bastions. In 1596 the Ottomans occupied the castle in Eger, Dёshdёr did not tempt fate and surrendered unconditionally until 1687 was ruled by the Pasha. After the liberation from the Turkish yoke locking played no historical role and had no military significance.

  Restoration of the castle began in 1953godu. Initially the focus was only fragments endangered the final destruction, but in 1960 had begun serious work, including archaeological excavations. In the north-eastern tower (with room king) opened an exhibition of the history of the castle and monastery, a collection of weapons and an exhibition of wax figures. Northwestern tower operates as a lookout with views of the castle and its surroundings. On the ground floor there is a small printing press, on which tourists can make commemorative coins with his own hands. Southeast Tower (with bathroom queen) closed to visitors - it is mainly used as dressing rooms for the actors during the ongoing events in the castle and historical reconstructions. South-west tower is still a ruin.
