Cathedral - is the main church of the diocese of Mikkeli (South Savo). The building is of red brick with a slate roof designed by the outstanding Finnish architect Josef Stenbeck and executed in the Gothic Revival style in 1896-97gg. The cathedral can accommodate within its walls up to 1,200 worshipers.

High bell tower was added late 60s. XX century. the western wall of the cathedral. Inside the cathedral, in the western part of it, the body is made in 1956. a factory in g.Kangasala.

In the eastern part of the cathedral is a large altarpiece, painted in 1899. famous painter Pekka Halonen. The altar painting depicting the scene of Christ's crucifixion, was presented to the city as a gift.

In 1927. residents pitched next to a square with a picturesque pond. They still believe that by following the bridge over the pond, fulfilled every wish.
