Schallaburg Castle is located in the Wachau Valley, 5 km from Melk, Lower Austria. Lower Austria - the land of castles and chateaux. No other region in the country has so many ancient fortresses and magnificent castles of the past centuries.
The central part of the castle was built in the Middle Ages, in 1572. Castle received a characteristic appearance when prosperous dynasty Lozenshteyn created a homestead for himself, modeled on the Italian palazzo, but at the same time, emphasis was placed on striking silhouette of the castle, which can be seen from far away to this day.
