Harrach Castle is a gem of Austrian architecture, it is located a few kilometers east of Vienna. The castle is famous for its valuable art gallery, which is one of the most luxurious of frequent collections.
In 1524 the castle became the property of the Harrach family, who turned it into one of the most beautiful castles in Austria. All family members were connoisseurs of art, so each generation kind of a hand in creating a beautiful collection. Hundreds of pictures to come to the castle in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Now they are in the castle, stately home of the family, with gorgeous furniture and treasures of artistic craftsmanship that are one of the most important private collections in the world collected over the last 450 years. After the war the castle was partly looted, but was later restored.
In the gallery of the castle can be seen more than 200 paintings, representing artists from all over the world, including such works as "O Holy Night", "Three ladies playing music", "View of Naples." Also noteworthy are large murals depicting the famous Austrian battle. In one of the halls you can see the bust of Haydn's works Antonio Grassi. This bust is in Haydn Hall, named after the famous musician and composer Joseph Haydn, who was born in the same village where the castle is located Harrach.
By the way, Joseph Haydn Museum is only a few steps away from the castle.
