Kalwaria Zebrzydowska - the architectural and park complex and pilgrimage center, built in the Mannerist style in the seventeenth century. The complex is located near the town of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. In 1999, the reserve was declared a World Heritage Site, and November 17, 2000 the building was declared a monument of Polish history.

Construction of the complex began in 1600 on the initiative of the Cracow magistrates Nicholas Zebrzydowska. The first construction was the Church of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and a modest chapel.

The church was inaugurated Rangoni Claudius in October 1601. Later, the Governor decided to continue the construction in order to create a religious complex for the pilgrimage. According to the project the Belgian architect were built 24 chapels that symbolize the Passion of Christ, as well as 14 crosses - Stations of the Cross Way, along the forest. Since the beginning of the seventeenth century for 27 years, gradually replaced the crosses at the chapel in the style of Mannerism. In the 30s of the seventeenth century, the chapel was surrounded by a wall, and after the construction has been built chapels 9 Bridge of Angels. In 1656 the monastery was greatly expanded, its appearance began to resemble a baroque palace. Since 1887 in the Basilica kept the miraculous icon "Kalvariyskaya Mother of God"

The architectural style of the buildings in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is different, every building is tied to a specific religious events. So, the house of Pontius Pilate built in the shape of a Greek cross, and the Chapel of Our Lady - in the form of heart.
