Built in honor of one of the main Hindu gods Vishnu, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple is located in the capital of the southern state of Kerala, Trivandrum, or as it is more commonly referred to Thiruvananthapuram.

Gopuram, the main tower of the temple, was built in 1566. It has seven levels, and its height is more than 30 meters. It is decorated with numerous statues and sculptures, all of which can be considered a real masterpiece zodcheskim. The statue is made of the power - fossil, extracted from the bottom of the sacred river Kali Gandaki, which has a black color and is considered an incarnation of Vishnu anikonicheskim. In addition, on top of the statue is covered with a special substance "Katusarkara yogis" - Ayurvedic mixture, which does not allow to settle on the surface of the idol of dust and dirt.

In the temple twice a year a ten-festival of traditional dance and dramatic arts of Kerala - Kathakali. But Padmanabhaswamy may enter only those who profess Hinduism, in addition, they must comply with a very strict dress code.
