Town of Kemer (kemmern) - part of the city of Jurmala, located 44 km from Riga. For a long time resort of Kemer it was famous for its hot sulfur water and mud, which is popularly called "holy spring". There were always a lot of people who came from different parts of the country, who want to be healed of various diseases and ailments (chronic radiculitis, diseases of the spine and joints). Many of them were moving with difficulty or not able to walk.

The first master these gifts of nature from the medical point of view have been taken at the end of the XVIII century. However, as the hospital, Kemer has been actively progressing in the first half of the XIX century. Among the patients there were many Orthodox people. For them, very important was the spiritual support from the church. Therefore, people began to ask that in the town of Ķemeri built Orthodox church.

Only in 1873, thanks to donations, began construction of the church. For her, there is a place on the second floor in a small room that belonged to the management of hospitals. Consecrated the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and attributed it to the Assumption Church in the Riga Castle.

The church holds a total of about 22 people. Accordingly, it could not accept all comers. After 15 years, the church did not meet the spirit of the time. A small room could not accommodate people who want to be at the service. Patients could not breathe in a stuffy room. The second floor was an insurmountable obstacle for people moving with difficulty, not to mention the non-ambulant. As before, to enter the temple could only be from the yard and up the steep, narrow stairs.

Deplorable and disgraceful state of the church attracted the attention of His Eminence Arseny, Bishop of Riga and Mitava, for the first time visited the town of Kemer. He immediately began to pursue the construction of a new church. But to create it had no land, no money, no materials.

This complex work began in 1891. On the day of Apostles Peter and Paul in the church appealed to the parishioners of material assistance in the establishment of a new church. Fundraising began. Actively assisted in this case the director of Kemer waters Dr. A.G.Kulyabko-Koretsky. The funds were collected in a year. At the same time, it has been allocated a plot of land obtained free of charge. Building material was also found.

July 9th, 1892 Most Reverend Father Arseny, Bishop of Riga and Mitava hallowed place a bookmark Kemernskoy church. The project was designed by the famous architect VI Lunskoye. A year later, construction was completed and the church was consecrated immediately. The temple was located in a very nice scenic location among ancient oaks. In contrast, in the so-called "official home", it was located sulphurous water management.

Outside the temple the image makes a good impression. A very successful combination of architectural forms, art masonry walls, the density of the individual parts of the building with a bell tower and Paul emphasized the stylistic unity of the church. July 10, 1894 in the church was a wonderful event. In Kemernsky temple holy icons were sent to the Greek Mount Athos. Lord raised three icons: the Mother of God "Quick to Hearken", the Iberian Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.

Since then, it took more than a century. The church all these years, remained valid. In the postwar period were especially many worshipers when Kemeri health resort was for all the republics of the USSR. The resort, with its exceptional medicinal properties and natural conditions actively progressed, equipped with modern conveniences and has been gaining popularity recognition.

Currently, the temple is in good condition and is an Orthodox spiritual center of Kemer and its surroundings.
