Tower "Shot Tower" - one of the most famous historic buildings in the vicinity of Tasmania in Hobart. It is 11 km from the state capital in the town of Tarun. Built in 1870 by an immigrant from Scotland Joseph Muara, the tower reaches 48 meters in height and has 10 meters in diameter at its base. For four years after construction it was the tallest building in Australia and in Tasmania she kept the honorary status as much as 100 years old! Interestingly appointment tower: with its top passed through a sieve of molten lead, which fell into the water at the bottom and thus turned into a lead shot.

The current owners of the tower are the heirs of Joseph Muara, who turned it into a popular tourist attraction. Many are ready to overcome the 300 steps to the top, from there to admire the wonderful, but at the same time, the dizzying views of the mouth of the River Derwent. On the ground floor of the tower is a small museum where you can learn the history of the family Moire and get information about the production process of lead bullets in the 19th century. Near the museum opened a gift shop and cafe. And around the tower beautiful garden, where you can wander, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the surrounding nature.
