Anton Chekhov bought the villa at the beginning of the twentieth century - in 1900. Noisy, irritated populous Yalta Chekhov, he was looking for a quiet place to relax. Therefore, I bought the house in Gurzuf.

According to the will of Chekhov (he made his 03.08.1901 years), a summer residence in Gurzuf inherited O.L.Knipper passed to his wife. Every summer she came and lived in this cottage. During the civil war in this house there were the actors Kachalov group, they had a tour of the southern regions of Russia. It stayed in the later years I.Kozlovsky, N.Dorliak and S.Richter, O.Efremov. Next to the cottage O.L.Knipper lived famous scientists Pushkinists I.Medvedeva and B.Tomashevsky close L.Knipper settled, well-known composer, who wrote the song "Polyushko field." In 1953 O.L.Knipper the last time he was at his dacha. And after the death of O.L.Knipper cottage House passed the name of creativity Korovin.

Cottage Chekhov in 1987 became a branch of the museum of the writer in Yalta. Every year there are organized exhibitions devoted to Chekhov, and art exhibitions. Unfold traditionally demonstrated in April and until November.

The memorial is dedicated to the exhibition of O.L.Knipper and Anton Chekhov, in another - presents literary materials about the process of writing the play "Three Sisters". Visitors can see a copy of individual pages of manuscripts, photographs of people, who became the prototype characters, the very first edition of "The Three Sisters."

The exhibition, dubbed "Setting Chekhov" was opened in the third room of the museum in 1999. You can see here the reproduction of portraits of Chekhov by renowned painters: portrait of Chekhov in his youth, written by Nicholas, his brother (1884); portrait of a young writer's brush Levitan; Portrait I.Braza written for the Tretyakov Gallery (1898); portrait made Valentin Serov (1902). This museum contains a huge amount of unknown photos that were not previously exhibited in Yalta House Museum.
