Anton Chekhov bought the villa at the beginning of the twentieth century - in 1900. Noisy, irritated populous Yalta Chekhov, he was looking for a quiet place to relax. Therefore, I bought the house in Gurzuf.
According to the will of Chekhov (he made his 03.08.1901 years), a summer residence in Gurzuf inherited O.L.Knipper passed to his wife. Every summer she came and lived in this cottage. During the civil war in this house there were the actors Kachalov group, they had a tour of the southern regions of Russia. It stayed in the later years I.Kozlovsky, N.Dorliak and S.Richter, O.Efremov. Next to the cottage O.L.Knipper lived famous scientists Pushkinists I.Medvedeva and B.Tomashevsky close L.Knipper settled, well-known composer, who wrote the song "Polyushko field." Cottage Chekhov in 1987 became a branch of the museum of the writer in Yalta. Every year there are organized exhibitions devoted to Chekhov, and art exhibitions. Unfold traditionally demonstrated in April and until November.

This museum contains a huge amount of unknown photos that were not previously exhibited in Yalta House Museum.
