Roman Catholic Exaltation temple is one of the main attractions of the city of Chernivtsi. It is close to the city center, on the street Beethoven House 2.

The church was built in 1814 by decree of Emperor Joseph II, who during a visit to Chernivtsi was outraged that the disposal of the Catholic community of the city there is only a small chapel. Although the church was built with the support and funding of the Emperor, it was finished only three decades later. In 1818, on one of the walls of the temple came the first watch that later were replaced several times with new ones. In addition, the side tower decorated with a sundial.

The first large-scale reconstruction, which is slightly altered the appearance of the church, held in 1910. In this kind of temple reached to the present time. Save unique interiors and interior decoration of the 19th century was possible thanks to the fact that in Soviet times the church has remained in force.
