Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the Bukovina land has a long history that goes back more than two centuries. The first steps to creating a society were made in the 80s. 18 Art. Turkul in 1879 in Cracow produced gold vestments.

In 1946, when the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was officially liquidated, the Cathedral of the Assumption was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. And in 1961 it was closed. At the close of the temple of the UGCC believers were able to move the iconostasis and altar of the Blessed Virgin and Jesus Christ in the church of St. Nicholas, which was nearby.

In January 1990, before the closed doors of the temple. Nikolai Simkaylo served the first Divine Liturgy. At the beginning of 1995, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the UGCC were returned iconostasis and the miraculous icon of the Mother of God.
