Compton Acres Gardens, located not far from the resort town of Bournemouth, is a fine example of landscape art of the early XX century. They consist of several different gardens: Italian garden, Japanese garden, a heather garden, rock garden and water garden "Forest Valley".
Italian garden surrounds the villa with fountains, flower beds and sculptured topiary - a magnificent example of a formal garden. Particular attention is drawn to the bronze sculpture, located in the garden.
Japanese Garden in Compton Acres is considered one of the best gardens of its kind in Britain. Teahouse entwined with vines and decorated with original works of Japanese arts and crafts.
Heather garden is beautiful at any time of year, but especially the colorful picture can be seen here in the spring. In the garden grow various kinds of heather from around the globe.
Garden water and stones - one of the largest gardens of its kind in private ownership. The combination of alpine and small bodies of water and more than 300 species of plants produces a great effect.
The least formal garden - "Forest Valley". Pine Grove with curly paths and picturesque waterfalls, shade-loving plants and shrubs create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
The gardens are privately owned. Paid entrance. There is a cafe and gift shop. The rules stated that the gardens allowed "well-behaved dogs on a leash."
