In the historic center of Alatyr Chuvash Republic, surrounded by ancient churches and merchant houses located Nicholas Znamensky temple. The church was built by the parishioners in 1770. Brick building replaced the previously stood here a wooden church with the main altar in honor of the icon of Our Lady of the Sign. Opposite the church is the house where the family lived with the young S.D.Erzya Nefedova, who became world-renowned artist and sculptor, and renovated two-storey house at the temple.
