In the northern side of the city Alatyr Chuvash Republic is the Holy Trinity Monastery with the highest bell tower in Russia. Male monastery was founded in 1584, and from 1615 for 1763 has been attributed to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The remaining structure of the monastery is a historical monument of culture and architecture of 18-19 centuries.

The monastery complex consists of: Holy Trinity Church (built in 1753, renovated 1805-1808 gg.), Restored white stone church of Sergius of Radonezh (built in 1801), the Church of Our Lady of Kazan with a dome in the neo-Byzantine style, cave temple Seraphim of Sarov (built in 1849 at the Kazan side chapel, rebuilt in 1905).

The main attraction Alatyrsky Holy Trinity Monastery is the gate bell tower, built in the traditional style of 16-17 centuries the temple and having a height to the base of the cross 81, 6 meters. Erects the bell tower for a few years, architects VA Verdin, VA Sulikovym and designer VK Poteshinym. Sanctify newly built bell tower with the church of St. Vassian (on the second floor) in 2009 and in October of the same year, the bell tower was officially recognized as the highest in Russia.

Bell tower with a dome tent has a pink color with brick trim, decorated with elements of white marble. Forming an architectural complex with the Holy Trinity Cathedral, in the construction of the bell tower were used elements of the Byzantine style. The 14-tiered bell tower is Temple (with access to the monastery), gallery, library, museum, technical, office and storage space. One of the levels (ground floor) is adapted to the unique mechanism chimes and the top of the tent (for sound amplification) located grate. The belfry is 26 meters high and covers three tiers belfry. The weight of the large bell (there are 14 pcs.) - More than eighteen tons. A special feature is the bell tower of the elevator (up to the fifth floor) and mechanical chimes with a dial on the four sides, with a diameter of more than three meters (each).

Alatyr Holy Trinity Monastery, previously won fame for activities especially revered by the people Schemamonk Vassian, today receives a large number of pilgrims.
