Not far from the town's spa park and a museum Ludwig. It is not so much and not only a museum of modern art, but rather a cultural center, which hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, ranging from paintings and photos of the most diverse trends, meeting with authors, discussions about the ways of development of modern art, demonstrated a wide variety of installations.

The museum was opened in 1991. It is based on a body of work, "New Gallery" (the collection of Peter Ludwig) that existed in Aachen since 1970. Peter Ludwig - a legendary personality: the biggest philanthropist and collector, the owner of a huge collection of paintings by Picasso and works by such renowned artists as Andy Warhol, Jenny Holzer, Eric Bulatov, and in addition, a fabulously wealthy businessman in the field of confectionery production, it was a symbol of post-war reconstruction of Germany . All forces and resources invested in the collection and creation of museums around the world - in Cologne, Koblenz, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Budapest, Beijing, etc.

The museum is housed in the building of the factory, which was built back in the 20s, which in itself is a monument to industrial architecture. The building was rebuilt with new problems of its functioning. The total exhibition area is about 6000 square meters, it is the whole architectural complex, which includes and a library and a restaurant, and a school of painting, as well as artists' studios and apartments, where they can live, as well as a hall for various activities. It is a living organism, which functions to promote contemporary art, debates on ways of its development.
