Tyszkiewicz Palace - one of the most important palaces in neoclassical style in Warsaw. Currently, the palace belongs to the University of Warsaw, is located in the building university museum.

The palace was built in the 18th century for the Lithuanian Hetman Ludwik Tyszkiewicz, who married Constance Poniatowski - the niece of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski. Construction began in 1785 on the project of Polish architect Stanislva Zavadsky. Work on the construction of the palace is strongly tightened, between the customer and there is a constant debate. As a result, since 1786 to complete the project was assigned to Johann Christian Kamzettseru. Above the interior decoration worked several experts: Giuseppe Amadio, Johann Michael Graf, Josef Probst, Andre Le Brun and Ludwik Kaufman.

In 1820, the palace became the property of Anna Tyszkiewicz after her divorce with Alexander Potocki. In 1840, the palace acquired in August Potocki, since the palace remained in the possession of the family of Potocki do1923 year. In 1923, the family sold the building of the Agricultural Bank is located Polish Academy of Literature with a collection of manuscripts of the National Library.

During World War II, the palace was burned, restoration work was carried out from 1949 to 1956. Entrance hall, staircase, dining room, billiard room and guest room got its original appearance, the other rooms have been designed to meet modern standards.

Currently, the palace is owned by the Tyszkiewicz University of Warsaw, where the museum is located.
