Gold channel that Czech is called "Golden sink", was created in 1505-1520 by order of Rosenberg's, who sponsored and controlled basis of the whole system of ponds, which are in the vicinity of Třeboň. For centuries, these waters stocked with carp, without which the Czechs can not imagine Christmas table. Golden Channel, whose length is 45 meters, connected the local river Lužnice and one of the ponds, pond called Norusitskogo. His name has acquired the channel because of its versatility. For Trebon he really was gold. As it floated forest and used the channel to drain water during the floods and heavy rains. Through this channel, the pond was getting fresh water from the river, avoiding stagnation of water in the reservoirs. The water was saturated with oxygen, so the carp grew here by leaps and bounds. So, the city prospered and developed.
Construction of the Golden Canal and development of a unified system of ponds were started Stepanek Netolický, who well versed in fishing and knew what to do to improve conditions for breeding carp. On the construction of local reservoirs, canals and dams on the river Lužnice worked as Jakub Krčín.
Nowadays Golden Channel, as well as an extensive network of ponds around Trebon included in the UNESCO list of natural monuments. Reserved places around them are of particular interest to zoologists, botanists and romantically inclined tourists. Along the Gold channel, there are special paths for walking and cycling.
