Since the beginning of this century, to be exact - since 2008, in the history of architecture in Taganrog began a period of "modern sculpture", a characteristic feature of which is the creation of sculptures almost life-size, mounted not on high pedestals, and at the level of the sidewalk, in the immediate accessibility spectators. The sculpture "The Egyptian Pyramid" is designed based on the story of Anton Chekhov's "Kashtanka" and is set on a small circular area in front of the park them. Gorky. The composition is made by bronze casting in the form of the project of Rostov sculptor Dmitry Ladygina. For its manufacturing used 150 kilograms of wax, almost a ton molding sand and a ton of bronze art. After casting the sculpture underwent coinage, grinding and polishing, artificial aging. At that time the cost of manufacturing the composition was considerable - more than a million rubles! Opening of the composition was held September 1, 2008.
