Since the beginning of this century, to be exact - since 2008, in the history of architecture in Taganrog began a period of "modern sculpture", a characteristic feature of which is the creation of sculptures almost life-size, mounted not on high pedestals, and at the level of the sidewalk, in the immediate accessibility spectators. Among them, mainly Chekhov's characters: "Romancing the bass", "The Cherry Orchard", "Artemka", "Thick and Thin", "Egyptian pyramid."

The sculpture "The Egyptian Pyramid" is designed based on the story of Anton Chekhov's "Kashtanka" and is set on a small circular area in front of the park them. Gorky. Covered with colored tiles playground symbolizes the circus arena, and the main characters - bronze literary heroes of Chekhov's story: a pig sow Ivanovna, Ivan goose, a cat and a dog Fedor T.
