The house was built in 1890 at the intersection of ul. Nicholas (now ul.Radischeva) and Sergius Minor (now ul.Michurina) under the direction of architect A.M.Salko for the entrepreneur Peter Schmidt.
Family Schmidts in those days was a major producer of flour in Saratov and around the Volga region. Especially the professional qualities of different two brothers; Peter and Andrew Schmidt. Their efforts were built of stone grain stocks on the Grand St. Sergius (now Chernishevskaya), in 1879, earned a steam mill on Kabanovskiy vzvoz (later called Shmitovski vzvoz). In our time more warehouses are - a long time in which the plant was located "Liksar" and on the site of the mill is a new building of the Academy of Law.
Manor Peter Schmidt was on the rise and has been an integral part of the street of the old benchmark Saratov. Among the wooden shacks and philistine buildings building looked like a palace mansion. One facade - with a balcony and a loggia - went to the Volga, the other with a figure of Attica, was considered ceremonial. Angle bay window did house a unique and emphasized the style of well-known architect in Saratov Salko. Finishing the interior was democratic and convenient.
Up to now only live house, the area in front of the house now belongs to the Saratov financial and technological college. From 1918 to 2011 the building housed the "house of knowledge and enlightenment", now it is placed creative club "Constellation".
P.P.Shmidta House is an architectural monument of the late nineteenth century and protected by the state.
