As often happens, the great discoveries are made by accident. So, in 1961 in Paphos, not far from the city's harbor, one of the local farmers, plowing a field, I discovered an amazing thing - the remnants of the unique structures of the Roman Empire. Soon on this site has been created Archeological Park, which is now attracting fans from all over the ancient world. Currently tourists discovered three of the four main structures discovered - a house that belonged to the noble Romans built around the III century AD. They were conditionally called villas of Dionysus, Theseus and Aion. His name got through these ruins miraculously preserved mosaics that decorate the floors and almost completely destroyed the walls of these buildings. Each of mosaics depicting scenes from the life of one of the gods and heroes of antiquity. Beautiful patterns are composed of small stone, glass and marble tiles in different colors.

Thus, the greatest interest is the house of Dionysus - it is almost 556 square meters remarkably preserved mosaic pictures, which you can see scenes from ancient myths about the god of wine Dionysus, as well as images of people intoxicated with wine. The remaining villas mosaics are not as impressive scale and remained not so good, but is also quite interesting. For example, you should pay special attention to the scene of the battle of Theseus with the Minotaur in the house of Theseus, and the image of the birth of Dionysus at Villa Iona.

The mosaics are considered to be one of the main attractions of Paphos, moreover, they have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
