Beautiful villa, once built for Johann Ulrich, also known as Hans Ulrich, now considered a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Hans Ulrich was a highly respected man who in 1918 was appointed head of the board of the Moravian Ostrava. He was the seventh mayor of the village and the last officer in this position, accountable for their actions before the Emperor of Austria-Hungary. After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, he resigned.

His construction company, which he founded together with his friend Alois Mihatchem, has participated in many major projects in Ostrava. Thanks to the enthusiasm and activity of Ulrich, many historic buildings Ostrava owed their existence to this company.

Not surprisingly, his own house Ulrich chose to build their own. He took an active part in the development of the architectural project, and then personally supervised the erection of the building.

Three-storey villa was built in the so-called Swiss style, which combines elements of Neo-Baroque, Renaissance, Mannerism and Modernism. The villa is surrounded by a terrace with high carved railings. The facade is decorated in an unusual style of a Swiss chalet.

When Johann Ulrich died, his favorite villa was sold. The new owners have equipped it offices, and then handed her rent Ostrava lawyer Bohumír Savrde. Then there founded a carpentry company, and then completely sold state-owned mining company. In the 50s of the last century there have organized club, which worked various circles and dances were held. Today, Villa Hans Ulrich is an exhibition center. In the basement of the villa runs a music club.
