Roman Catholic Church of St. Bartholomew is located in the cemetery of the Ostrava district Nova Ves and unofficially called by locals "The Grobku." This name is explained very simply: they say that the oldest part of the temple - a Renaissance sacristy - located on someone's grave. Who's buried, unknown even to local historians.
In 1443 the local priest Gregor built on the site of the future church of St. Bartholomew small chapel. She stood for a short time and was torn down in the next century. Instead, the Chamber erected a Gothic church to which was attached in the XVIII century baroque chapel. Church repeatedly subjected to reconstruction. The first repairs were carried out here in 1807. Then there was a threat of demolition of the temple, as it was so old that threatened to collapse at any moment. However, the church stood, he has been renovated and again began to accept members. The second large-scale reconstruction took place in 1913. Despite the difficult times, the Church patched and hoped that he would stay at least another hundred years, until the offspring would not take on the responsibility for taking care of him.
On the main altar of the church is a statue of the patron saint of the former town, now a district of Ostrava Nova Ves - St. Bartholomew. Near the altar, you can see the coat of arms of František Ondřej Mandorfa, which is dated to XVII century.
Church of St. Bartholomew surrounds the cemetery, which is growing very old tree - Three hundred linden. It is considered one of the local attractions.
