Cultural Center of the Philippines is located in an area of Manila, Pasay City, which is included in the Manila agglomeration. The center was opened in 1969 on the initiative of President Ferdinand Marcos for the promotion and preservation of art and culture of the Filipino people, it was conceived as a kind of cultural Mecca of Asia.
