Liwonde National Park, located 205 km. to the south-east of Lilongwe - the best national park in the country, it is well managed by a special squad of rangers and is famous for a good species diversity of its inhabitants and the beautiful scenery. Located south of Lake Malawi, it includes part of the lake shore and the river Shire. Thousands of hippos and crocodiles living in the waters of the reservoirs, and large herds of elephants - the pride and the visit card of the park, there are several species of antelope and two species of rhinoceros, as well as a large colony of birds. Most animals can be seen in the northern part of the lakeside park.
