State Museum Cerralbo, located in the street in Madrid Ventura Rodríguez, can be called one of the most important cultural places of the city. The building where the museum is located, was the private ownership of its founder Enrique de Aguilera-and-Gamboa, 17th Marquis de Cerralbo. From the early years of the Marquis showed uncommon interest in the various works of art. Lots of traveling, he bought paintings, some of which were truly invaluable and souvenirs, figurines, coins, glassware and ceramics, and much more. All this formed the basis of the collection, now exhibited at the Museum Cerralbo and with more than 50 thousand exhibits, which passed into the possession of the Marquis of the state along with the house.

Today, visitors can admire the Museum Cerralbo beautiful paintings by Spanish artists El Greco, Francisco de Zurbarán, Alonso Cano, Luis Melendez, Bartolome Gonzalez and others. Italian painting in the museum presents the work of Bronzino, Tintoretto, Giovanni Battista, Sebastiano Ricci and others. Also here you can see several works by Frans Snyders and a lovely portrait of Marie de Medici Van Dyck.
