Maric Park is located near the port of Kobe. Its name comes from the word american («US»). The park is located a number of attractions - port tower, maritime museum and memorial to the victims of the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. Part of the memorial is a fragment of an earthquake destroyed the waterfront, which is reminiscent of that which claimed the lives of the destructive power of the people.

In the center of the park is the Maritime Museum, the building is reminiscent of the white sails inflated by the wind. Its exposition is dedicated to the history of the city of Kobe - the international port, open one of the first foreign ships, as well as the history of Japanese and world shipbuilding. Part of the exhibition is located in the open air. One of these exhibits is "Yamato-1" - the experimental ship that was built in the early 90s now Mitsubishi Heavy Industries - «daughter» Japanese corporation Mitsubishi. The vessel has been tested in the harbor of Kobe in the summer of 1992, however, the complexity of the designs and costly production slowed down the implementation of this development.

Half of the building takes Maritime Museum Museum Corporation Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which manufactures a variety of vehicles and mechanical components to them, including jets, high-speed trains, helicopters and motorcycles. Visitors are offered himself to sit behind the wheel or helm of some exhibits.

It may seem that the Kobe Port Tower is a bit like the design engineer Vladimir Shukhov, including the famous radio tower in Shabolovka, Moscow. Indeed, the design of Kobe Port Tower Shukhov relevant patents and similar to its facilities. Net building height of 108 meters in Kobe appeared in 1963, it has built the company Nikken Sekkei. The combination of the central core and the retina was so strong that withstood the 1995 Hanshin earthquake of magnitude 7 points. Currently, it is used as a viewing platform and is designed for 3,000 visitors a day.
