Walking through the historic center of Jesenik, on Masaryk Square you can see the whole complex of buildings of the former church, which the locals still call "the monastery". Most notable among them is the building of the chapel of the Virgin Mary.

Construction of the monastery was started in 1896 under the auspices of the Ursulines. The main purpose of this complex was the organization of educational institutions for the children of citizens. The first house built churchmen, thought structure, which now bears the number 154. Over time, the town square were building schools and dormitories, where it was proposed to place teachers and students. At school at a high level taught English, German and French. In addition, the children were taught as history, music, art, logic, shorthand, literature, cooking and sewing. And all these sciences have been studied for 4 years of study. The monastic complex is constantly expanding. In 1896-1897 years on its territory there was a chapel of the Virgin Mary, which was built to replace the small chapel where they could not fit everyone. The project worked chapel Johan Groger, who created the previous structure. The facade of the chapel was decorated in pseudo-style. The interior of the new church differed pomp and wealth. The most valuable of its decoration was a statue of the baby Jesus of 60 cm tall, which puts on a variety of clothing, like Prague Iezulyatko. Locals firmly believed that this sculpture created in the XIII century. Unfortunately, during the Second World War, many decorative elements have been lost. During the Communist regime in the Czech Republic, the monastery was closed and its buildings brought to the hospital wards.

Today, in the monastery reopened school.
