Haskovo Zoo is located in the woods and Kenan park is a favorite place for recreation for children and their parents. The history of the zoo began in 1958, the efforts of Ivan Gospodinov, and in 1977 was allocated fairly extensive area for animals: herbivores, carnivores, primates, rodents and various species of birds. In 2006, large-scale reconstruction was carried out, during which many cells have been refurbished, while others are destroyed and rebuilt.
At the beginning of the park is a playground with slides, swings and other games for children. Zoo is divided into several sectors. In the first sector are waterfowl. It is a huge cage with two lakes inside. There are found wild duck, Peking duck, swans and geese.
In the second sector are rodents, including rabbits, guinea pigs, and the inside. Nearby is the sector of birds of prey, which is home to owls, buzzards and eagles. In the neighborhood of visitors waiting for the sector of small mammals and birds: squirrels, badgers, guinea fowl, peacocks, chickens and pigeons.
On the left side of it you can see a variety of primates, big cats and the sector in which they live, leopards, spotted cats and lions. Lions are the pride of the zoo in Haskovo, because every year produce offspring. With lions Haskovo related an interesting story: Once, many years ago, hoodlums broke the lock on the cage and released the lioness. Only a few days later it found basking in the sun on the roof of the car in the yard of a house in a nearby village.
In the zoo of Haskovo you can see bears, wolves, foxes and jackals. The last in a row, but not the most important sector includes a variety of herbivores. Sector consists of five squares arranged in a circle with a common center and the common walls. These cells have the transition to medium-sized species of animals can move from room to room. Here visitors can see fallow deer, roe deer, mouflon, Tibetan yaks, ponies, donkeys and a herd of goats.
