House of Art - Art Museum was built in 2003 in the framework of the "European Capital of Culture" and since then has become a monument of architecture in Graz. The building of the museum was created by the British architect Peter Cook, together with Colin Fournier. The museum specializes in modern art of the last four decades.

The unusual shape of the building is completely different from the surrounding buildings .  The team of architects used innovative ideas in the construction of the museum .  The frame of the building is made of reinforced concrete, and the facade is made of blue plastic panels .  The facade is made media installation, which consists of luminous elements, programmable computer .  Glowing elements - is more than 900 fluorescent ring, stretching over an area of ​​900 square meters .  Day is reflected in a modern facade of the clock tower Schlossberg, which is located across the river .  In the evening, the installation is used as an electronic billboard informing about future events and exhibitions .  The museum has no permanent exhibition .  Architecture, design, film and photography exist under one roof .  The idea of ​​the museum is to organize a variety of multidisciplinary exhibition .  House of Arts implements an innovative concept that provides opportunities for the public and for the curators of specialized exhibitions .

The museum's bookstore, where a large selection of literature on contemporary art, design, graphics, photography and world architecture. Shop cooperates with several artistic and architectural universities, so has a range of rare books and publications scarce.
