If strolling through Granada, walk 500 meters to the west from the center, you can get to the monastery of San Jeronimo, built in Renaissance style in the 16th century. Originally, the monastery was founded in Santa Fe - a suburb of Granada, but after its liberation from the rule of the Moors Catholic Kings monastery was moved to Granada in 1500. Above the new building of the monastery in the Renaissance style work of such great masters as Siloam Diego Florentino Haq, Juan de Aragon, Juan Bautista Vazquez El Moso. In the monastery of San Jerónimo houses the remains of Fernando González de Córdoba, the right hand of the Catholic Kings in military matters, called the Great Captain and his wife. The basic structure of the monastery is in the form of the cross, has one nave and is decorated with a ribbed vault, made in the Gothic style. The walls of the monastery with large buttresses adorned with the coats of arms of the Grand Fernando González de Cordoba and his wife. The building of the monastery has several cloisters, one of which is decorated with capitals, pointed arches, and two magnificent portals, decorated with carvings in the style Plateresque, created by architect Diego of Siloam. Special attention is given a series of brightly colored sculptures, placed inside the monastery church.

During the war with the French in the 19th century the monastery had suffered significant damage. From 1916 to 1920 in the monastery were carried out restoration work under the guidance of the architect Fernando Wilhelm.
