Nature Reserve "Laguna Marano" spread over an area of 1,400 hectares in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and, in fact, consists of two smaller protected areas - nature reserve "Foca dello Stella" and reserve "Valle Canal Nuovo". Lagoon itself is run by the municipality of Marano Lagunare, which also organizes tours of the water area.
Most of the reserve is made up of reeds, sandbanks and aquatic ecosystems. A feature of the lagoon of Marano is constantly changing salinity levels. This feature was the reason that the reserve formed a unique biological diversity - both terrestrial and aquatic species. However, the most diverse bird kingdom is that the lagoon attracts thousands of tourists Marano.
The larger of the two reserves, included in the "Marano Lagoon" - "Foca dello Stella" - can be investigated only by boat, since it is not available for terrestrial paths. Go on a tour of the water it can be turned into a commune of Marano Lagunare - though it is worth remembering that the group can only consist of 80 people. In the reserve includes the estuary of Stella and the surrounding land covered with reeds and crossed winding streams.
Other reserve - "Valle Canal Nuovo" - has great potential for recreation and cognitive activity. Most of it once operated in order to breed fish. Today, located in the reserve visitor center, observation deck, which offers the best views of the valley, para birdwatching and a children's playground. It also hosts a variety of events for obrazoavtelnye students. Interestingly, the only source of fresh water for the "Valle Canal Nuovo" are rainwater and three artesian wells.
The main inhabitants of the lagoon of Marano, of course, are the birds in the first place, water sports - various species of ducks, mute swans, whooper swans, shelduck, teal, whistlers and garganey, mallard, pintail, tufted duck and dives. Rare luck is considered a meeting with small merganser or ferruginous duck.
