Museum of resistance and deportation or links located in the town of Druskininkai. Happy birthday of the museum can be considered as December 29, 1996. The initiator of the museum became Druskininkai branch of the Union of political prisoners and exiles of Lithuania. Since 1998 it belongs to the public organization «Atmintis» («Memory"). Gintautas Kazlauskas was once exiled, it was he who spearheaded the creation of the museum. Museum employees are members of the social organizations and work on a voluntary basis. Museum of Genocide Victims, which is in Vilnius, constantly assisting Druskininkai museum.

Museum of resistance and deportation is located in two rooms of the Culture Centre of Druskininkai government. In the museum you can see three permanent exhibitions: "Link", "armed resistance" and "unarmed resistance." There is also presented a memorial area Antanas Dambrauskas.

The exhibition "The Link" tells the story of numerous arrests and deportations in the period from 1940 to 1950. There are a lot of photos and artifacts from the personal collections of local residents. Also on display, visitors can see statistics on expulsion and deportation of Lithuanian people, see the map of the former Soviet Union, which shows the space references and dislocation camps.
The exhibition "armed resistance" is dedicated to the historical events taking place at the site of the partisan district "Dainava" in 1944-1953 years.

Finally, the exhibition tells the story of the unarmed resistance to various forms of disobedience and resistance: clandestine organization of amateur performances, participation in illegal circles and organizations, and others. The main theme of this section is the production and dissemination of illegal literature, among which you can see the number of magazine "Chronicle of the Lithuanian Catholic Church» («Lietuvos katalikų bažnyčios kronika») for the period from 1972 to 1989.

The memorial corner interpreter of ancient literature Dambrauskas Antanas (1911-1995) shows his personal belongings, books, including here you can get acquainted with his memories «Viskas praeina» («Everything passes") and the apostolic blessing of Pope John Paul II. There is also sealed Druskininkai City Council decision on awarding Antanas Dambrauskas honorary citizen of Druskininkai.

Funds of the museum rich in photographs, documents and things brought from the camps and links, crafts, tools, household items, relics of the time of guerrilla warfare and unarmed resistance.

The museum collection is constantly updated since 1994. This involved representatives of Druskininkai Branch of the Union of political prisoners and exiles of Lithuania and members of the public organization «Atmintis».

Since 1997, the museum examines the history of the guerrilla movement, organizes search operations, the meeting of the former partisans and connected. The employees of the museum restored and transported to the museum premises 2 guerrilla bunker found in Druskininkai neighborhood. Currently equipped with bunkers and accompanying information are the museum branches.

The museum organizes lectures, presentations of books on the history of resistance and deportation, a meeting of former political prisoners and other activities. For pupils museum guided tours, lectures, lessons of history, art contests. And for young people developed the tourist route, which includes the history of memorial sites of resistance: the monuments, bunkers, memorials.
