Holy Trinity Cathedral - the main temple of Dnepropetrovsk - in 2010 celebrated 165 years. It was erected on the site of the first church of the city. The wooden church of small size, consecrated in January 1791, came in forty years in disrepair, and city merchant asked the renowned St. Petersburg architect - court architect Ludwig Charlemagne Ivanovich Bode and Peter Ivanovich Visconti, designed at the time of the Assumption Church. In 1837 a place in the new church was consecrated. In the 60s of the 19th century in front of the church, according to the project of a local architect, constructed huge stone bell tower. In the future, between the temple and the bell tower is being built connecting chapel, thanks to which the area of the Church almost doubled. Later they were built house a parable, and the parochial school.
Large-scale renovation work was carried out in the church in the early 20th century. In the mid 30s the church was turned into a warehouse, but in the early '40s again opened its doors to worshipers. The second half of the 20th century marks the restoration of the temple, which nowadays have acquired a special dimension. There is an impressive recovery, both internal and external decoration of the temple and its surrounding area.
In the cathedral you can venerate the icon of the Holy Trinity; the icon of "Weeping Savior"; Mother of God "of the Iberian", "Kazan", "It is truly meet", "Samara". Here are the reliquary cross with relics of Orthodox saints. Services are held in the cathedral every day. The special atmosphere of solemnity and peace that reigns in the church, attracts a growing number of parishioners, especially during major religious holidays.
