At the heart of the island of Corfu, 12 km from the capital city of the same name is a small village Vatos. It is located on the hillside of St. George. Huge green valley known as "valley of Ropa" surrounding the village was once a lake which eventually dried up. This valley has an impressive central part of the island of Corfu.

Today, the valley crosses the river Ermones, creating a small picturesque lake. The abundance of greenery and water availability provide excellent habitat for different species of birds, animals and fish. The vast green meadow - a perfect place for grazing sheep. But mostly, it is grown olives and grapes.

Just a short drive from the village are the famous beaches of the island of Corfu, which are considered among the best in Greece. The most popular among them Glyfada, Pelekas, Mirtiotissa.

The Ropa Valley is the famous Golf Club of Corfu. Designed by the Swiss architect club with a worldwide reputation - Donald Haridenom - and meets the highest international standards. Golf Club is considered one of the best in Europe.

The area is not very developed tourism, and there are no numerous crowded, so it is perfect for lovers of quiet secluded relaxation. However, the proximity to the capital would allow, if desired, not break away from civilization and visit all the major historical attractions and museums of the island. Just 5 km from the village of Vatos is also a great water park.

In Vatose can stay in small cozy hotels or comfortable apartments. Also in the village there are shops, restaurants and cozy tavern with excellent local cuisine.
