In the central square of the city of Volgograd Uryupinsk region is located two buildings of artistic and regional museum, founded in 1968. Both the museum building - two-storey mansion of the nineteenth century, is an architectural monument. The main exhibition of the museum devoted to the history Prihopёrya from ancient times to the present day with the most valuable artifacts found during excavations. In the hall of the "ancient Prihopёre" stands of the history of the evolution of the earth and the remains of ancient representatives of flora and fauna. The most interesting exhibit is the layout of the mound in full size with a demonstration of the burial of six different ancient cultures: the pit, catacomb, carcass; Sarmatian nomads Polovtsy and the Golden Horde. In 2004 the museum was opened ethnographic department "Museum of the goats," where visitors are introduced to the local crafts: knitting goat and down products.
