Lihoslavlsky museum, or Karelian national museum of local history, belongs to one of the branches of the combined Tver State Museum. Its opening took place in the summer of June 20, 1995. It is a museum in the city center Likhoslavl, while far from it is the famous Temple of the Assumption.

Local History Museum is located on the first floor of a former merchant's house, built in two floors in the second half of the 19th century. Somewhat earlier in this house it was located and for a long time acted District Karelian museum, the base of which occurred in the end of 1930. Surprisingly interesting and mysterious history of development and establishment of native land are widely represented through numerous archaeological finds that have been discovered during the excavations and the intelligence services, conducted in the territory Likhoslavl area.

The museum is at the disposal of two large halls, where all the exhibits on display. The first hall is called "Cultural life and life Likhoslavl edge late 19th - early 20th century." All presented things are placed according to the chosen subject areas, which include: animal husbandry and agriculture, weaving and flax, peasant way of life, culture and education, harmony workshop, local field operations, Nikolayev railway and Likhoslavl'skiy region during the Great Patriotic War.

It is important to note that the bulk of the collections is devoted to the economic component, cultural and everyday life of the Upper Karel, widely settled in the whole territory of the Tver land over time to the 17th century, and even after the Time of Troubles. In the first room you can see the objects of everyday life and economy of the Tver Karelians and necessary tools. Particularly noteworthy are the product made under the peasant crafts of the local people. The majority of visitors showed great interest in the inner interior traditional Karelian house, which has some differences from the intricate decoration of classical Russian hut.

Funds Likhoslavl Karelian museum has a membership of more than six thousand items, including two notable and particularly valuable collections of national clothes and towels.

Lihoslavlsky Museum of Local History is constantly organizes and conducts fascinating thematic lectures directly related to the use of exhibition materials. In the top frieze of the exposition is a unique design discovery - works of famous Russian photographers of the late 19th - early 20th century. The photographs depict peasants performing field work.
