After its completion, and the division of Germany in 1955, and the city authorities, it was decided to provide land and organize the East Berlin Zoo, as the one that used to be the city remained in the western territories.
Today, the zoo is about 160 hectares and is located on its territory the eponymous palace, built in the style of early classicism. Thanks to the huge park there today not only live more than seven and a half thousand animals representing nearly a thousand different species, but also maintained and scientific, and even breeding. In particular, in this Berlin zoo breed elephants, and today is the state program on their breeding.
Fridriskhfelde Zoo is one of the largest in Europe, and around it in one day could not be anyone else. A vivid impression after visiting the park are animals and birds roam free: for example, one of the traditional amusements have a chat with the pelicans, who are not afraid of tourists and are always ready to snatch from the hands of a white loaf or profit apple slices. They, by the way, the very first welcome guests.
In the zoo, keep statistics of tickets sold, and especially interested to know that since its first opening July 25, 1955 to the same day, but in 2010 the zoo Fridriskhfelde visited by as many as 90 million visitors! In parting, every visitor can make a commemorative coin, scrolling through the workpiece in a special machine: the image of an elephant, a giraffe or a bird with a commemorative plaque will be a reminder of the wonderful time spent.
