One of the churches in the city of Aachen - St. Peter's Church - is not only interesting for its architecture. Initially, it was only a small chapel, the first mention of which dates back to the 13th century. Early Romanesque style distinguishes this structure, which, by the way, thanks to one of its towers and the location, close to the city walls, at one time served as a vantage point from which could be seen well proclivities enemies.
14-15 century were not the best in the history of the Church, because it gradually fell into decay. But in the 16th century, the church has gone through restructuring, which was led by one of the famous architects of Trier. Relatively quiet times, which lasted three hundred years, have made the church of St. Peter visited one in the city. It is interesting that the church and felt the "French" influence, and in 1862 it was built in the neo-Baroque portal.
In 1943, the city was bombed, and this little church was one of those that were destroyed almost completely. From 1948 to 1951 the church was completely closed. However, it was restored according to ancient paintings and drawings, and in 1974 received a new look thanks to the architect, whose name was Leo Hugot. Today, a small but very cozy church has become a favorite not only among the citizens, who are willing to attend services there, but also for tourists who can see the different architecture against the backdrop of the powerful structures of the Middle Ages.
